The short story: a friend of a friend of a friend.

The long story: I (Julie) had just moved back to Dallas to finish my last month of nursing school. To complete my training, I was assigned to work ten shifts in the Neonatal ICU at Parkland Hospital with an amazing nurse, Lindsey Lagrassa. A few shifts into our time together, I was feeding a patient when Lindsey walked into the patient's room and asked "How old is the oldest you would date?". I said twenty-eight was probably the top of my range, and her answer was "How about 29 years old, about to turn 30?" It turns out that Lindsey was dating Ari who is best friends with Gaby who was dating Matthew, and Matthew had been lifelong friends with a guy who liked opera music. They all figured we were the only two people under the age of sixty with a vague interest in La Boheme, and, therefore, we would likely be a match. A couple of weeks later I found myself on a first date with Brooks... and Gaby, Matthew, Lindsey, and Ari. Brooks and I probably said ten words to each other the whole night, but, obviously, Brooks was hooked. Brooks waited patiently as I took my licensing exam, but a month later we found ourselves on a real date, just the two of us. After that, I was hooked, too.
